In any photocatalytic reactor design, there are four key elements - shown in the diagram.  

In order to work effectively, the main areas where CatalySys is applying its research are:

• Mass transfer  

Important in adsorption of contaminants / reagents onto the catalyst and also desorption of products from the catalyst after the reaction.

• Efficient light production

Driving the carbon footprint down is key. Reviewing and applying UV LED’s; low-power UV lamps & solar-activated catalysts with an eye to future needs.

• Effective photon transfer

Making every photon count: Without taking photon transfer into consideration, efficient light production in itself would be wasted. Maximising the transfer of light is the other essential half of the equation.
